Kate and I were talking about playing when she returns and we realized that Hairspray will have just been released in theaters. We are both so excited to see it. I mean really, how can you hate a movie with Christopher Walken, John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Marsden (sigh), Allison Janney and Jerry Stiller? If nothing else it will make me laugh.
So in preparation, I bought the sound track. And I am not kidding when I say there is a song called Welcome to the 6o’s. I love it. I am truly a geek.
As if the Buffy Sing-A-Long was not enough to prove that.

I like musicals. Why remake a classic though?
Because, sadly, no one is watching the classics any more, therefore they can remake it and half of the population won't even realize it is a remake. Lol! I think Ricki Lake did a fabulous job as Tracy Turnblad in the original and no one could do better; but then again who could be better then John Travolta and Christopher Walken as Mr and Mrs Turnblad. I think this new one will prove to be good in it's own right.
We need to have an original Hairspray night on like a Friday, then go see it on a Saturday!
I have the Buffy Sing A long on Friday... Nick and Lara's wedding on Saturday morning.... Carpenters on Thursday...
What about Wednesday?
Eh, Hairspray is a 1988 film. Hardly a classic by definition. That being said, films are remade and sequels are filmed because they are more of a sure thing at the box office than an original story. That being said, the reviews on Hairspray look really good.
Well I figure if they are playing rock songs from the 80's and 90's on the classic rock stations, then a movie from the 80's can be considered a classic. Just an opinion, not fact.
